19th of April 2015, another crisp Sunday afternoon in the eastern suburbs.
Read MoreThe game kicked off with all the boys in high hopes and choking for a win, BUFC got off to an early start with a ball from midfield through to Hornby to which he soo elegantly flicked on to Dave running through two defenders, to easily slot past the keeper for the first goal.
Read MoreAA1’s kicked off the 2015 season with the same fixture as last season – against Olympic Eagles. There had been a positive showing throughout the preseason and we hoped to take that momentum and intensity into the first game. We knew we were lacking a little fitness, but relied on our determination and passion to beat the Greeks.
Read MoreBarnestoneworth AA1’s kicked off the new 2014 season with a new look side after club owner Fincent Tan gave the mercurial Eddie Sweeny an open cheque book to bring back the league title. Out went fans favourite Lynchy and messers Passey, Rodgers, King, Watson, Morton and Faulkner were all deemed surplus to requirement.

Read MoreThe first game up, was yet another game against Coogee for the AA8 team, for the fourth time this season, and after losing three times so far, the omens didn’t look good. However, as we’d managed to refrain from turning up semi-drunk, there was a glimmer of hope.
Read MoreAfter a barnstorming run of victories we were off to a good start with an early goal, something that had been important in sealing the previous 6 wins on the bounce. The goal came when somebody (Gay Michael?) put Chris Moore through on the halfway line with a great pass. Rather than slot the ball home having rounded the keeper, the unselfish veteran chose to put it on a plate for Walshy to head home neatly. 1-0.

Read MoreA tough weekend for the aa1 side of barnstoneworth as we had to play a double header. Saturday’s game saw a 2 1 victory over queens park with goals from big Walshy and one from the stallion then a massive game on the Sunday saw us beat top of the table coogee 3 2 in a close encounter a great effort from the lads with a double from the inform stallion and the winner from the grinch Lynchy who was outstanding when was introduced at half time overall a great weekend and some quality performances.
Read MoreLast years beaten grand finalists Lokomotive Cove came to the ‘House of Paine’ on Sunday looking for some revenge. However, a strong start from Barnstoneworth saw them completely pinned back for the first 20 mins. After throwing his toys out the pram last week George Michael Michael was handed his first start of the season as Eddie Sweeney relaxed his “it’s my ball and you cannae play” mentality. Stunned by the success of Mikey’s bold approach Hairy John adopted the same tactics in the pub afterwards, but the 86 year old he was taking a run at, only had eyes for the bingo machine!.
Read MoreAfter a slow start to the 1st half BUFC carved out the 1st few chances with ‘The Stallion’ coming closest when sent through 1 on 1, he was unfortunate to see his effort go agonisingly wide of the far post. Tom never had a save to make and Chris Moore looked to have gained an extra yard of pace after a trip to the local butchers that morning to get his barnet chopped.
Read MoreBarnstoneworth AA1 put on a great display at the House Of Pain on Sunday. Early goals from Ritchie and a peach from Chris Moore saw us settle well. Then a dubious penalty decision threw Dunbar a lifeline but a goal from Niall ‘Deadly’ Deegan with his first touch after coming on as sub sent us in 3-1 at the break.
Read MoreBarnstoneworth AA1 opened their season with a 4-1 victory over UNSW at the House of Pain on Sunday. Goals came from debutant Andreas ‘ The Stallion” Lupi who scored a brace, Gay Ritchie and Dave the Rave Mays. An early goal by The Stallion and it looked like it may be an easy afternoon, but a string of missed chances and a lack of commitment allowed UNSW back into it. Then a pass back, that was about as popular as a shite in a swimming pool led to Uni’s equaliser.

AA1 v Queens Park Lions
My match report by Ciara Kelly aged 4
Cold night has set in the boys are huddled together all 8 of them…. who else is coming was to be heard… as Eddie is setting up the nets on wrong pitch to confuse the eagles…. and successfully upsets the opposition with this wily tactic… could it work.
Starting 8 in announced and Michael Michael still is dropped to the bench…..
“Eddie is the worst manager ever”
Michael sprints to his new company car and starts the car engine after 4 attempts… He revs the car in disgust and tensions are that he is gonna run Eddie over….
A hot and sunny day brought an expectant Barnstoneworth crowd to Paine Reserve for the visit of bottom placed Waverley Old Boys. Barnstoneworth started brightly and were piling the pressure on the Waverley defence early on. Richie Borwell had the ball in the back of the net, after some good work from Batstone and Chris, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Richie was putting himself about the pitch and was involved in another attack, when a neat one 2 with the spritely Michael Passey saw the centre midfielders effort well saved by the keeper. Passey was getting more and more into the game and a great cross from the right fell to the feet of Richie at the far post. With the net open in front of him, and the fans ready to cheer the first goal, Borwell blasted his effort over the bar in what can only be described as ‘doing a Bren’.
Read MoreIf you’ve watch the above you’ve heard the line up, not much else needs to be said really, other than it was the performance of the season so far. Away to the league leaders and a 4-0 win. That’s pretty good going by anyone’s standards.
Read MoreAfter a poor start to the season, with just one point from the opening two games nothing but a win would suffice from this classic encounter. They’re always good games against the Park and this was no different with a bit of blood sweat and tears, but fortunately two goals from Danny and a screaming NET BUSTER from Liam set up this 3-1 victory.
Read MoreGame number two of the season was played against the horrible and ugly Olympic Eagles. Everyone was hoping that there wasn’t a repeat of last year where big Andy saw red and turned into Frank Bruno, swingingly wildly but not actually connecting with anyone (secretly everyone was hoping that it happened again cause it was really funny)
