AA4 Match Report v Heffron Hawks 25/4/10
/Heffron 0 Barnstoneworth 6
The day started with a boost to the squads and some key players returning from injuries such as Junior, Queenie, Dublin Alan and Rooney (Dave that is).
Fresh off the back of a 5-3 win the previous week the lads started well and got off to a flyer when Niall’s 30 yard short took a wicked bounce in front of the keeper and into the net, 1-0 to the reds. Two more excellent goals in the first half from Gav and Bryn ensured the Barstoneworth boys were looking strong at half time going in three to the good.
With the second half we saw some changes to the team with a return to football for the ever solid Queenie at the back as well as Rooney in midfield with Junior who had a good first half with only 9 and a half fingers making way.
After numerous attempts at goal and not too much success Barnstoneworth were soon on the up again and with another from Bryn and two (yes two) from Dave R the lads were now coasting against the kids from Heffron.
Although we never managed to get the famous 8-1 result this week it was a fantastic effort all round by the boys who now face Glebe in next week’s game and going by the last two weeks performances a top four finish is definitely not out of the question.
Man of the match: Bryn
Quotes of the week:
Dave on his ‘30’ yard screamer: “It was a miskick!”
Billy on his goalless performance: “Aye, a never scored but a got 4 assists.”
