Match Report AA2 v WOB 15/07/12

Another depleted squad saw an even more depleted Waverley Old Boys take all 3 points at Paine Reserve on a hot winter’s afternoon.

Despite the visitors starting with just 9 men, Barnstoneworth failed to capitalise despite playing some nice patient football.

Waverley opened the scoring after a through ball to their loan forward, and despite the defence stepping up, the referee deemed him to be onside, and he floated the ball into the top corner from 25 yards.

The half time team talk was not a productive one, and it saw BUFC go 2-0 down 5 minutes after the re-start.

A looping cross come shot from Hairy John got Barnstoneworth back in the game and should have had an equaliser with a few minutes to go when, a fumble by the Waverley Keeper eluded both a very Angry Adam, and an even Angrier Smithy and was cleared off the line.

Luck is clearly not with us this season. But we have an opportunity, with 5 games to go, to take some pride out of this season.

2 games in 3 days starts this weekend, with a Friday night game against UNSW, followed by the other University on Sunday.
