After last weeks close defeat the AA2’s faced off against the first of the 3 Maccabi teams in this year’s league.

So a new season is upon us full off new expectations, hopes, dreams, players and a new coach in the form of Barnstonewworth legend Nick Keiran. If he is half as good at coaching as he has been at bossing center midfield for decades he will go a long way.

Things were not looking great in the days leading up to the first game of the season with only 11 players fit and available. However, with a couple of last minute signings and a certain fishing trip getting cancelled Barnstoneworth found themselves in a much stronger position come Sunday afternoon.

Barnstoneworth AA2 remain undefeated in pre-season with 1-0 victory over Pheonix on Saturday at Waverly synthetic. There was a mixture of old and new faces in the squad but the shock inclusion was the returning Barney Bad Boy Ian Rodgers. He appeared back after falling out with all of his new teammates at Glebe Wanderers Over 35’s after only 2 weeks!

It was miserable day in Maroubra (Heffron Park) for this meeting of Randwick City reserves against Barnstoneworth United in the first pre-season friendly of the day. If not for the artificial pitch the game would have been called off for sure.

After a battling 0-0 draw against Randwick City Reserves in the first game of the afternoon, the stage was set for another tough game against ESFA's newest Saturday Premier Division team.

Saturday 25 February saw Barnstoneworth United take on Premier League side Maroubra in what can only be described as the pishing rain, at South Sydney High School.
