match report right i really cant remember much of last weeks game note to myself, in future when asked to do match report, do it on the day. Right i am going to start the report off with a very touchy subject my blisters for anyone who has not seen them feel free to take a look any time, now blisters affect some people but not all, with blisters your best option is to use surgical sprits a guy i use to know with a funny accent and who starred in a show called brookside jimmy (sean) corkhill tolld me thats the best cure for blisters cheers jimmy.

It’s a bit foggy now as this game was a whole two weeks ago and i’ve drunk a fair bit of beer since the day that the UNSW guys came back to town, but we shall see how it goes.

Blue sky shone through, not a cloud in the sky, a perfect day for the goals to flow or tanning on the sideline!

There was an air of confidence around the team when I first turned up to Mission Fields, solid training session on Wednesday, the gaffer had psyched us up with his typical mid-week motivational email to the team claiming we had plenty of players (15) so we can rotate, we’d finally get a chance to score some goals and 3 or 4 nil would be an achievable result. Alas we only had 11 players (including Sean) with Chris Neale on bench in case some one needed his magic sponge.

What can I say, it is definitely improving . Captain Chris took a hold of it and put us through our paces with the customary over and back jog followed by a few to the side, some header jumps and then a 5 a side game.

Let me warn you now. All top sport journo’s write with a hint of sarcasm in any good match report and this will be no different. It was a typically dull, grey, blustery, wet and cold mid autumn afternoon for this mouth watering Sunday league clash against Queens Park. Fox Sports had surprisingly chosen to go with some live AFL game with an egg shaped thing instead of setting up the camera’s down on pitch 28 Queens Park, their loss….

9am – its raining. Am I happy about that? Not sure. Will the game be called off? More than likely. Could be a messy Anzac day down the pub all day then……

Other than plenty of goals and decent players, the key to success in this league will be learning from our mistakes – It’s fine to make errors, as long as we don’t make them again and again. Last week there were 3 glaring ones.
In part these were rectified.

And so it began… On a beautiful autumnal day in the Eastern Suburbs at David Phillips Oval, and due to injuries, sickness, a wedding, and a multitude of less satisfactory excuses, we started the game with the bare 11 and one injured sub and one sub AWOL, though he eventually arrived just after half time!
